Vatican's 10 Commandments for Drivers

It's unlikely they came down off the mountain on stone tablets, but the Vatican has released 10 Commandments for Drivers. Click HERE to see all 10.

I'd say most are pretty common-sense. Don't kill is #1. (Duh! I coulda sworn that one was in the original Ten Commandments!) (How about squirrels?) Others seem to deal with being a good Samaritan, having charity and forgiveness rather than vengeance, etc.

The one that caught my eye, as a cyclist:

9. On the road, protect the more vulnerable party.

Ya gotta like that concept. High-five Pope Benedict!

I'd say it would be easier to just have a Golden Rule for Roadway Users - Treat other roadway users the way you'd like to be treated - and be done with it.

Not much too say but everyone should live their lives this way whether in a car, on a bike, on a skate board, in a train....oops I digress (Sam I am).

In all honesty, I am impressed that "The Church" came out with this statement. My favorite is #5: "Cars shall not be for you an expression of power and domination, and an occasion of sin." Between the acknowledgment of evolution and this, maybe there's hope for those ol' Pontiffs after all.

But Danielo!

Cars (and SUVs and big ol' pickup trucks) shouldn't be "an expression of power and domination"?

The pope is attacking The American Way! COMMUNIST!

I'm also confused about that "occasion of sin" stuff. I can't help but think about what goes on in the back seats of cars, from time to time. Is that what he's talking about? Is the pope perhaps confessing to long-forsaken youthful indiscretions?
