Some posters from a bygone era when conserving energy was generally viewed as a patriotic thing...
Times have changed! In the 70s, Jimmy Carter suggested that people turn down the thermostat in the winter and up in the summer - and take the stairs instead of the elevator. Oh, the indignant protests that followed! WHAT?!!? Deliberately inconvenience ourselves, or discomfort ourselves?

You are starting to make me feel guilty. Every weekend we are out of town guzzling gas.
As long as you're not alone in that vehicle, Clancy, at least you're not carpooling with Hitler! Hahahaha
(I'm not anti-vehicle - never will be. It often makes sense to drive a vehicle. But it often makes no sense whatsoever!)
All family camping trips.
I don't know about you, Clancy, but I take some comfort on the occasions when I do guzzle the gas, by rationalizing that I've saved a lot more gas than I'm currently guzzling, by abandoning the every-day and every-place-by-car lifestyle.
(I'm hoping to guzzle some gas on the motorcycle over the weekend, on a Salmon - Missoula - Lewiston - Enterprise loop ride.)
Bikeboy, your motorcycle doesn't guzzle gas.....it sips.
