BBW, Day 2

I hope the "Night Light Parade" went well - sorry I missed it. (My 17 tomato plants are in the ground, and this morning they looked like they're all happy, despite our chilly dawn.) The parade took place at 7:30pm...? I was out on an errand with my family at almost 9pm, and the sun was still in the sky - what's with that?

This morning I put on my Boise Bike Week T-shirt from last year, over my "office" shirt. It says on the back in big letters:

ONE
LESS
CAR

Do other roadway users understand that message?

Last night I tried to make a T-shirt that has a clearer message, using some cool T-shirt transfer paper, but my inkjet printer doesn't work anymore. (The tranfer is heat-activated, and it won't work in the laser printer. Inkjet printers kinda suck.) The message:

120,819
MPG
(so far)

Yeah, I think they'd understand that message. Even the Prius drivers and those annoying Moped/Scooter people who use the bike lane would be jealous, huh? (I've got a nearby friend with an inkjet. Maybe if I grovel, he'd let me print a page on it. But he drives an SUV so maybe he won't.)

I missed the ride too as my wife sprang something last minute on me. I like your idea of the custom shirts for your MPG. A real attention getter.

Boise Bike Week (BBW) needs to change their name though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBW

Whoa daddy! BBW - I did not know that!

(What we need is more BBW's on their bikes, during BBW!)

I was out for the ride last night. It was too early in the day for lights I thought.

I'm thinking about making a shirt that reads "Boise Rickshaw Season" on the front and:

TWO
LESS
BIKES

...on the back. That would be fun. As to the BBW shirt messaging, the "ONE LESS CAR" makes tons more sense than "120,819
MPG (so far)". MPG implies gas was consumed, which is confusing to me. Maybe:

120,819
GAS FREE
MILES

...would make more sense. That actually makes more sense than "ONE LESS CAR" since a bike doesn't truly replace a car. Motorcycle? Maybe. If you never have passengers or significant cargo, I suppose so.

Last night was my first night of riding with a helmet. It's kinda annoying. Maybe I'll get used to it, maybe not.

I like Boise Bike Week so far. I'll try to bust out the Rickshaw at least once in the week. It would have been great last night but:
1. The speed was too fast for the Rickshaw.
2. It wasn't really dark enough to show off the 67 LEDs I have on that thing.

I thought Bikeboy used "BBW" to get more search engine hits... :)
